BESIX Watpac hosts successful 2025 NSW Subcontractor Event
Celebrating shared achievements and looking ahead to new opportunities.

BESIX Watpac recently hosted its 2025 NSW Subcontractor Event, celebrating the shared achievements of 2024 and looking ahead to new opportunities in 2025. The event saw a terrific turnout, with subcontractors from across NSW gaining valuable insights from CEO Mark Baker, General Manager NSW Giovanni Polimeni, and Operations Manager Luke Hunter.
In his presentation, Giovanni Polimeni commended the contributions of project teams who handed over Sydney Metro Barangaroo Station last year and for winning the Site Safety Award for Commercial Projects valued over $100M at the 2024 Master Builders NSW Association Awards. He also took the opportunity to congratulate the Axis Alexandria project team for winning in the Industrial Buildings $25M to $50M category. This project is the first multi-storey facility of its kind for Australia’s largest industrial developer, Goodman.
BESIX Watpac is currently delivering significant NSW projects following major project wins last year, including Moore Park Village Precinct for Venues NSW and the new Shellharbour Hospital – its ninth project for Health Infrastructure.
The St George Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment project reached new heights at the end of 2024, achieving ‘Topping Out’ with the NSW team also completing the complex marine projects at Greenwich Point and South Mosman wharves for Transport for NSW as part of the Ferry Wharf Upgrade Program Tranche 3 under the NSW Government’s Safe Accessible Transport Program.
Looking ahead, Giovanni highlighted a healthy project pipeline for the NSW region, where BESIX Watpac can bring its expertise in delivering complex projects. He emphasised the importance of collaborating with subcontractors to deliver on its promises.
Hall of Fame NRL legend and founder of Goanna Academy, Greg Inglis, also joined the event as a special guest. The company has been working with Greg and his team since 2022 to help end the stigma surrounding mental health.
